SLA Ministerium

St. Louis Association Ministerium Invite - 2018

Ministerium 2018 --- St Louis area UCC clergy gatherings!

Please mark your calendar for the second Wednesday of each month – excluding June, July, August – for fellowship, refreshments and learning from 10-11:30am  CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE INVITE.

We will focus our attention on The Marks of Faithful and Effective Authorized Ministers this year. The Marks is a tool for discernment and assessment, created especially for use by Members in Discernment, Committees on Ministry, and authorized ministers. The Marks developed through conversations surrounding the Ministry Issues Pronouncement of General Synod 25, which sought to expand UCC definitions of learnedness and leadership in authorized ministry and to emphasize excellence in ministerial formation.

It's important to note that The Marks, available on our UCC website, is not a checklist or report card, in which one strives to receive a perfect grade in every category. Rather, The Marks provides a lens for reflecting upon a person's formation, gifts and growth both before authorization and throughout one's ministry.

Join us for a great conversation with a Fantastic Four!

Doug Anders is coming back to St Louis mid-summer as he retires from being the Conference Minister of the South Central Conference.

Char Burch, currently serving as Interim Pastor in Owensville, has a number of conference ministry experiences on her resume.

Sheldon Culver is heading toward retirement from being Conference Minister next door in the Illinois South Conference.

Allen Fluent was hoping to get his walking papers at this month's CAG so that he can retire from his role as our Conference Minister in our Missouri Mid-South Conference.

This great panel will help each of understand from a Conference Minister’s perspective what it means for a pastor and local church to be in deep/wide covenant with conference ministers and the conference. What do we not know? What supports and encourages a conference minister? How can we be enlightened and inspired as we in Missouri Mid-South Conference get closer to calling a new Conference Minister?

Please save the date for this important conversation.

Then, please place these on your calendar as well --

Wednesday, September 9th from 10-11:30am

St Lucas United Church of Christ (Keith Herron)

11735 Denny Road  •  St. Louis 63126

(between Sappington Rd. and Lindbergh Blvd., one block west of Gravois Rd).

Wednesday, October 14th

Eden Seminary (Lorin Cope)

We’ll start with worship in the Chapel at 10:00 a.m.

We will have an evening gathering in November – so that our colleagues who

are unavailable during the day may be able to attend.

There is a December plan brewing.

If you would like to host in 2016, please let me know.
