Wobus Craft Store Volunteers Needed! One special part of Shannondale Ministries in southeastern Missouri, is the Wobus Craft Center. The purpose of the craft center is to help local artisans offer their unique craft items to be sold to the public. This helps to supplement the income of about 25 local folks. The store is open from Memorial weekend through mid-October, every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 9:00 – 3:00. It is a fair-trade store; the artisans earn whatever they charge for their items. We can do this because our overhead is low, and volunteers run the store. In order to keep the store open every weekend, we are in need of more volunteer help. Volunteer duties include opening the store and working the check-out counter, totaling up sales and closing up in the afternoon. Please note that there are a few steps to navigate and the flooring in the store is made of wood chips. The store is not climate controlled, but you have access to the Nature Center next door, which is. We only need one person each day, but couples or friends also like to volunteer together. A typical sales day sees 2 to 8 groups of customers. So, if you volunteer, bring a good book or use the time to watch the hummingbirds or other wildlife, or browse the internet on our Wi-Fi. Free lodging is provided for volunteers. This year lodging will be available in the newly renovated, climate-controlled cabin across the road a little ways from the craft center. Bedding and towels are now provided as well. You may instead have a free campsite, water and electric hookups are included. After the store closes at 3:00, volunteers have time to explore the beautiful Ozarks. In the nearby area visit Echo Bluff State Park, Akers Ferry, Round Springs, Alley Springs Mill and Park, Devil’s Well, Rocky Falls, Current River State Park the towns of Salem and Eminence, and other regional sights. If you are ready to volunteer with us, you can go to our SignUp Genius here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C44A9A92BA4FACE9-wobus.
