We are at a turning point, with over 60% of the population understanding that climate change is real and needs to be dealt with. The ways in which this can be done are described and rated in a book called Drawdown: The Most Comprehensive Plan Ever Proposed to Reverse Global Warming, edited by Paul Hawken. Some of the ways require governmental action, but others are possible for individuals to implement. Most of the solutions suggested will, in addition, create security, improve health, save money, facilitate mobility, eliminate hunger, prevent pollution, restore soil, clean rivers, and more. There is no single solution to this complex problem. As Bill Nye says, “We must do everything all at once.” Our instructor will be Marlene Katz, a PhD biochemist who has had an interest in the environment that has led her to learn a about climate change.
