The Council for Health and Human Services Ministries (CHHSM)
The Council for Health and Human Service Ministries (CHHSM) is committed to advancing the work of all health and human service ministries of the United Church of Christ in creating a just, caring and compassionate world. The Council is made up of health and human service organizations who choose to be members and seek to be united by a covenantal relationship with the United Church of Christ. With the local churches of the Missouri Mid-South Conference and the conference itself, our vision for today’s world continues the spirit and support that formed these agencies in the 19th and 20th centuries. Together, we are the United Church of Christ that values covenant, inclusion, stewardship, courage and servant leadership.

MMS HAS THE MOST!
The Conference for Health and Human Service Ministries (CHHSM) celebrated its 80th Annual Gathering in St. Louis in March 2018 with over 150 attending. Representatives of CHHSM agencies based in Missouri Mid-South Conference posed for a photo at the Gateway Celebration, sponsored by MMS and Illinois South conferences and six CHHSM agencies. MMS is home to more CHHSM agencies than any other UCC conference.
Highlights of the meeting that focused on advocacy included a presentation by the German delegation Diakonie RWL, remarks by Rev. Toni DiPina during opening worship held at the recently completed Deaconess Center for Child Well-Being and the consecration of this year’s Nollau class at closing worship.
Michael Readinger, CHHSM President and CEO, commented, “Advocacy is so important in these tumultuous and changing times. We’re blessed to come together as a community of faith-based providers who can unify our voices to create one voice that speaks for those we serve.”
